Republic Commando Co Op

Way back in the early years of this decade, LucasArts realized that people not only enjoyed Star Wars, which they had happily been making and publishing horrible games about for years, but that they also enjoyed tactical shooters. But then, in a stroke of genius, they realized that many people, and gamers in particular, lack the intelligence to play Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon and so they decided that you, the player, should have as little say in the game's decision making as possible.

It is indeed still possible, first you'll need to host a server (use gameranger unless you have and know how to use a server box) then your gonna wanna open up the console once you are in your game (you have to be the host of the server in order to use the console) then your gonna wanna go in your program files and locate the folder called 'maps' here is it's default directory: Star Wars.

And so Republic Commando was born, and it was a lot of fun. It's not without its flaws and it can get brutally hard, but it's Star Wars and we can forgive it much. It also has the rather odd distinction of having literal clones for its main characters and yet it gave them more personality than most videogame characters ever have.
There are three campaigns, going from the opening of the Clone Wars to near the end, and we'll be tackling them in short snippets, as each one is a few hours long. I'll be posting some bonus footage kindly provided by the game itself at the times when the game would normally award it (usually at the end of a campaign, but one is available at the start). Details on mission areas and enemies will be updated as they're encountered.
I also recommend you make a Viddler account and download the original files rather than watch them in Viddler's flash player. They're still watchable there, but the quality is much better in the originals.

  • The Other Darrin: While all the clones in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith were voiced by Temuera Morrison, here, he only voices Boss. The other clones are voiced by Raphael Sbarge (Scorch), Jonathan David Cook (Sev), and Andrew Chaikin (Fixer).
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The sequel, Imperial Commando, was axed. This left us with an unresolved Cliffhanger ending — the game cuts out right as the survivors of Delta Squad are being sent to the front lines one more time on the eve of Order 66.
      • According to lead programmer Brett Douville, there were two directions they were debating taking the sequel: one which focuses on Delta Squad getting caught up in the execution of Order 66 and having to take down Jedi, the other focusing on Sev going on to become the first soldier in the nascent Rebellion and sharing his tactical knowledge.

    • Co-op was something that the development team considered, but they had to axe that option given the realities of how difficult co-op can be to develop for. One of those, 'It would be great, but we don't have the time/budget for it.'
